Advanced Modelling and Simulation for Surface Enhancement in Additive Manufacturing

Agenda

Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies allows for freedom of design, direct manufacturing of complex geometries and shapes with heterogeneous material manufacturing capabilities and cost-effective manufacturing. Various modeling and simulation techniques have been applied to understand AM processes that affect mechanical properties and qualities including the surface of additive manufactured parts. However, it will be difficult to develop an appropriate model to predict the part quality with high accuracy due to uncertain and inconsistent processes in AM and the limited computational resource.
